Touhou - Aya Shameimaru
I always find it fascinating what a wide range of subject matter ends up being rendered as doujin art. And while art based on games isn’t unexpected, the huge quantity of doujin work based on the Touhou Project (AKA Project Shrine Maiden) is surprising. The Touhou Project is a scrolling shooter game, notable for the sheer insanity of the number of projectiles flying around. The developers, Team Shanghai Alice also put alot of effort into creating personalities for their tiny pixellated girl characters that are dodging those bullets. This particular image is of Aya Shameimaru, a camera wielding newspaper reporter for the shooter girls. She uses her camera as her weapon and defense. Moetron has a write-up with screenshots. I don’t think I could handle it.

Ooh. Very nice. My favorite Touhou character is a toss-up between Aya (because of her psychotically brave, can-do attitude and maple leaf motifs) and Alice Margatroid (because of her impossibly cool name).
Would you happen to have that in any widescreen ratios? My preference is 1920*1200 or higher, it that is at all possible.
On second thought, maybe I can send YOU a 16:10 version. I just touched the image up with a content-aware image resizer (http://code.google.com/p/seam-carving-gui/) and I’m pretty happy with the results.
Let me know how I can send it to you.
